Industry News > Canada Post Lockout - Update
posted on August 30, 2016
Good day,
As you are likely aware, the Canadian Union of Postal Workers issued a 72-hour strike notice last week. Following this notice, CSLP actioned its contingency plan which includes instruction to Canada Post to stop accepting student loan documents. Now that we know that job actions proposed by the union are unlikely to have a significant impact on regular mail services, CSLP instructed Canada Post today to start accepting loan documents again as of Tuesday August 30.
We will advise you quickly should the situation evolve and should the CSLP-NSLSC contingency plan be re-instated.
Sincerely,
Mary Pichette
Director General
Canada Student Loans Program
