Job Description / Duties

BCIT’s Student Financial Aid and Awards is looking for a temporary, full-time (1.0 FTE) Functional Analyst. This position provides complex functional and technical support, project leadership and reporting for the Student Financial Aid and Awards Office (SFAA). Under the direction of the Manager, Student Financial Aid and Awards, this position serves as a systems expert for all systems with focus on the analysis, enhancement, development and implementation of technical solutions that meet the changing needs and priorities of the department and Institute stakeholders related to student financial aid and awards activity at BCIT. The incumbent serves as the main liaison with the BCNET representing the use of the Banner Financial Aid system. The Functional Analyst takes on a leadership role in identification and implementation of new processes and systems, creates and produces a variety of specialized reports and participates in achieving the overall strategic and operational goals of the department.

Qualifications / Required Skills

Diploma in Computer Systems, Business Information Systems or related program.
Two years general experience plus four years of current, relevant experience working in a complex enterprise environment, preferably related to student systems and data in an academic institution.
Comprehensive knowledge and experience with student information systems (Banner preferred).
Excellent computer literacy including hardware, software, networking, etc.
Expertise with databases, reporting tools, business applications and HTML.
Advanced level MS Office skills such as Excel
Proficiency in verifying data and the integrity of information.
Knowledge of enterprise e-mail systems.
Proficiency in the use of online content management systems.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the development of procedural and technical documentation.
Demonstrated experience producing and presenting material.
Effective individual and group communication and presentation skills.
Proven ability to problem solve, organize, prioritize and delegate tasks, respond to tight deadlines and demanding workloads in a complex and rapidly changing environment.
Proven ability to manage projects from inception to conclusion.
Must be adaptable to rapid changes in technology.
High level of initiative with demonstrated experience working autonomously and with minimal direction.
Demonstrated ability to work in a flexible, collaborative and team-oriented environment.
Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and customer service skills.
Proven ability to work effectively with a wide variety of managers and staff at various organizational levels and capacities.
Demonstrated experience training staff in student-related and business systems.
Must be able to independently investigate, analyze, plan and make responsible decisions.
Must be detail oriented.
Must be available to work extended hours and weekends as required.

Salary: Salary Grade 10: $61,268 - $66,481 per annum.
