Job Description / Duties

We are seeking an individual to join a group of dynamic and forward thinking professionals. Reporting to the Scholarships & Bursaries Coordinator, this position supports the organization, administration and operation of the Scholarships & Bursaries Program. A key responsibility is to ensure awards, scholarships, and bursaries are awarded based on established criteria and donor expectations. This position communicates the Program to students, faculty, and the general public and cultivates relationships with potential and existing donors. The incumbent contributes to the planning and implementation of new processes for the effective delivery of the Scholarships & Bursaries Program. The Scholarships & Bursaries Administrator assists with the maintenance of award, scholarship, and bursary fund accounts.

The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal, writing and organizational skills. An ability to exercise good judgment, think independently, be proactive in addressing tasks, and present professionally at all times is required.

Key Responsibilities:

Supports the administration of the overall Scholarships & Bursaries Program, assessing applications and assisting with the distribution of funds to recipients.

Recommends internal policies and administers external awards such as the Jason Lang Scholarship.

Carries out effective presentations to current and prospective students, faculty, and other stakeholders as to available awards, scholarships, and bursaries.

Chairs various selection committees for awards, scholarships, and bursaries.

Participates with public relation functions and at on campus events such as Registration and Open House.

Ensures award information is published in the Nugget (student newspaper), on the NAIT website, on the NAIT student portal, and on the Information Display System.

Qualifications / Required Skills

Skills and Knowledge:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Strong attention to detail and accuracy

Good knowledge of Microsoft programs (Word and Excel) is required; experience with PeopleSoft is an asset

Excellent time management skills and the ability to manage and prioritize several projects simultaneously

Knowledge of Apprenticeship courses and programs an asset

Ability to communicate well and present to internal and external audiences

Strong analytical and problem solving abilities and organizational skills

Computer skills in MS Word, Excel, Access, PeopleSoft

Qualifications:

Related degree (e.g. Arts, Commerce, Business Administration)

Experience in a post-secondary environment preferably within a Student Awards Office

Equivalencies may be considered

Additional Information

Note: This is a 12 months temporary opportunity ending on or before June 30, 2019 with the possibility of extension

Salary: $2,043.15 - $2,687.20 bi-weekly + a comprehensive benefit package
