Job Description / Duties

Reporting to the Associate Registrar, Enrolment and Student Financial Support, the Manager, Financial Aid and Student Awards is accountable for the administration and delivery of programs designed to provide financial support to students, including government-sponsored programs and College scholarships, award and bursary programs.

The Financial Aid and Student Awards Manager is responsible for enhancing the recruitment, conversion and academic success of students by ensuring that the focus of the Financial Aid and Student Awards Office is centered on utilizing all avenues of student financial aid available. The Manager is responsible for the supervision, leadership and facilitation of a multi-disciplined work team to ensure that students receive the highest quality service.

The Manager co-ordinates the development and implementation of new Financial Support Services policies and procedures, ensuring that continuous process improvements occur within Financial Support service processes to meet the ever-changing expectations of internal and external clients.

The Manager integrates, and implements a variety of systems to support the administrative objectives ensuring security and integrity of systems confidential data. The Manager is responsible for transforming and improving business processes and experiences for both students and Financial Aid and Student Awards staff. The Manager will also develop and implement organizational change management strategies, tools and practices that leverage best practices and enable successful transformation and adoption of new business strategies, processes and systems.

Qualifications / Required Skills

Minimum three (3) year Diploma/Degree;

Minimum seven (7) years work experience that includes working in a client service area in more progressive positions; with a minimum of two (2) years coordination experience or experience leading teams;

Must have demonstrated experience in highly charged or highly emotional conflict resolution areas and experience dealing with conflicting deadlines and priorities;

Demonstrated problem solving skills with the ability to analyze and streamline processes;

Strong organizational and decision-making skills are required;

Exceptional organization skills with the ability to effectively establish priorities in an environment with multi-competing deadlines;

Strong technical skills, problem resolution skills and analytical skills, with strong attention to detail;

Excellent client service skills with proven experience in advising students from diverse populations;

Superior interpersonal, written and oral communication skills to effectively communicate to a diverse population, including senior management representatives;

Able to work in demanding often stressful situations.

Additional Information

Please Note: Administrative work portfolios are subject to change; due to the temporary nature of this position, familiarity with the Registrar’s Office, and specifically Financial Aid and Student Awards, is preferred. Given the COVID-19 pandemic, at this time remote work is expected to persist until Fall 2021 though is subject to change; prospective candidates must reside in Ontario and upon resumption of on-campus delivery, this is an Ottawa campus-based position.
