Job Description / Duties
Kwantlen Polytechnic University is currently seeking a dynamic and experienced student services professional for the position Director, Student Financial Services. In this role, you will be responsible for the overall leadership, vision and ongoing development, supervision, management, delivery, and benchmarking of the services provided across all campuses by the Student Awards and Financial Assistance (SAFA) Office. You will also be responsible for the execution of SAFA’s integration within KPU’s strategic enrolment management plan. SAFA is one of three offices within the Office of the Registrar, and the Director reports to the University Registrar.
As Director, you will provide leadership for Student Awards and Financial Assistance staff and act as the University’s principal contact for provincial, federal and American student loan authorities. As a member of KPU’s Student Affairs leadership team, you will work closely with other Student Affairs units, as well as with students, Faculties and KPU’s Foundation.
Qualifications / Required Skills
Minimum qualifications include a Master’s Degree in a related discipline and a minimum 5 years’ experience in a post -secondary student services environment with 3-5 years of increasing responsibility, including the supervision and management of staff. A minimum of 5 years of in-depth knowledge of Canadian post-secondary education systems with a demonstrated knowledge of student financial assistance issues, programs, processes and concepts are required. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of effective team management while implementing change resulting in improvements to service quality, staff productivity and systems efficiency. Demonstrated excellent computer skills using MS Office platforms and an intermediate knowledge of Banner (Student) or other similar student information systems are required.
