Job Description / Duties

As a member of the leadership team, the Director is responsible to lead and manage the Manitoba Student Aid Branch, and contribute to achieving the goals of the government through department-wide initiatives.

The Manitoba Student Aid Branch is responsible to deliver on strategic and operational mandates, monitor institutions for eligible student financial assistance, and disburse approximately $250 million on behalf of the Manitoba and Canada student loan programs to over 17,000 Manitobans each year in provincial and federal student loans, grants and bursaries.

The Director will focus on enhancing client service, including providing a modern, online digital experience for students. The Director will also provide strategic options, policy advice, support and recommendations to the Executive Director of the Student Access and Success Division.

Qualifications / Required Skills

Qualifications:

Essential:
Post-secondary education in public administration, management, social sciences or other related discipline. An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered
Experience leading the development, review and delivery of policy and programs
Management experience with responsibility for human and financial resources
Proven ability as a leader with a commitment to create, support and sustain a diverse environment that enables staff to achieve results and to build organizational capacity for the future
Experience translating strategic priorities into clear operational and business plans to deliver results, with experience in strategic performance management and measurement systems
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong political acumen demonstrated through experience providing strategic advice to senior leaders on complex topics and sensitive issues
Demonstrated ability to leverage opportunities for innovation, find creative solutions to issues, and successfully manage change
Experience managing complex, high-level internal and external stakeholder relationships

Desired:
Experience building relationships with Indigenous people and implementing the principles of reconciliation

Salary: XM1 $88,267.00 - $108,429.00 per year
