Job Description / Duties

• Serves on the front line of the Financial Aid & Awards Office, providing information and advice to students, staff and the general public on University awards and government-sponsored student aid programs.
• Serves as a liaison between students and government-sponsored student aid programs, providing information and documentation.
• Validates different types of forms pertaining to University awards and government-sponsored student aid.
• Assists with the processes within the University awards program.
• Handles basic functions in the administration of the office, responsible for some record-keeping, filing and email correspondence etc.
• Acts as a liaison with Cashier’s Office, Trust & Endowment, Revenue, Capital and General Accounting, Student Records, Extended Education, ACCESS, Faculty of Social Work - Thompson, Winnipeg Education Centre, Faculty offices including Bannatyne Campus, University of Winnipeg Awards Office and Brandon University.
• Provides regular maintenance and support for the office’s website using Red Dot and NTreePoint modules. Updates and amends pertinent information, downloadable forms, links to internal and external resources. In conjunction with the Director, researches and implements new web-based features and functions.
• Designs, creates, updates, and maintains all office correspondence, including manual forms, letters, posters, advertisements, databases, charts, and presentations using advanced features of Microsoft Office and WordPerfect software.
• Works with Awards Selection Coordinator on BCIT/BSAC projects as required.
• In the absence of the Award Selection Coordinator, provides technical and administrative support including government student aid confirmation and award disbursement.
• Performs other related duties as assigned or required.

Qualifications / Required Skills

Education:
• Completion of a formal training program in a related discipline from a recognized institute.
• Post-secondary education preferred.

Experience:
• Three years of directly related experience.
• An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Skills and Abilities:
• Web based training and demonstrated experience in creating and maintaining documents, databases, charts, and presentations required.
• Familiarity and experience with Aurora Student is preferred.
• Proficiency in using advanced features associated with computer applications ( MS Office, MS Outlook), and Netscape Navigator required.
• Familiarity with NTreePoint and RedDot preferred.
• Experience working with government student aid and university awards programs preferred; broad and detailed knowledge of government student aid programs in Canada, particularly Manitoba, preferred.
• Attention to detail, time management skills and ability to multi-task are essential.
• Must have superior organizational skills and ability to work under stressful conditions.
• Excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills essential.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision required.
• Strong initiative and motivation are assets.

Salary: $39,785.20 - $49,795.20
