Job Description / Duties

The University of Lethbridge Scholarships and Student Finance office is seeking applications for a full-time continuing Awards Advisor to join our welcoming, student-centered team. Reporting to the Manager, Scholarships and Student Finance, the Awards Advisor is responsible for the administration of awards, scholarships and bursaries in addition to providing direction to prospective and current students in obtaining financial assistance necessary to support educational aspirations.
Duties:

•Adjudication and distribution of awards, scholarships and bursaries.
•Organize, facilitate award selection committees with faculty and/or staff.
•Deliver energetic public presentations to promote and inform prospective and current students about financial literacy, and financial aid/opportunities.
•Provide specialized confidential financial aid advising to diverse learners regarding government student loans, emergency loan/bursary applications and financial literacy.
•Participation in the organization and delivery of student loan programs designed to assist current and prospective students in financing their University of Lethbridge education
•Administrative duties such as website design and maintenance, building and keeping a library of resource materials and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications / Required Skills

•Must have undergraduate degree with a minimum of three years’ work experience preferably in a post-secondary student service setting. An equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered.
•Experience using a large database or Student Information System (e.g. Banner, PeopleSoft).
•Intermediate level of Microsoft Office (especially Word and Excel); excellent data entry skills and strong aptitude for accuracy are essential.
•Familiarity in counselling and advising students; experience dealing with complex issues; ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
•Capability to give lively and engaging public presentations
•Excellent organizational, communication and investigative skills.
•Ability to independently work under pressure with frequent interruptions, must be able to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
•Ability to adjudicate awards, scholarships and bursaries in a fair, objective and impartial manner.

Salary: $49,113.00 - $61,778.00 annually
